Matthew Angelillo | Age: 17
Matthew Angelillo, a 17-year-old junior at Skaneateles High School, was killed on June 19, 2004 when the car driven by his friend, Steven Corsello, 17, crossed into oncoming traffic on Route 20 and struck a 2000 Dodge minivan. They were driving from an outdoor party. Corsello's speed was estimated at 101 mph, and he was driving with a blood-alcohol level of .12. Corsello was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to submit to a breath test, reckless driving and failure to keep right. Corsello ultimately pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter, vehicular assault and driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or higher. Steven Corsello was sentenced to serve one to three years in state prison.
Matthew Angelillo had always dreamed of attending the U.S. Air Force Academy. He had just returned from Colorado, where he visited the academy he hoped to attend. He was a straight A student who played varsity football and lacrosse for Skaneateles High School. He also played youth ice hockey.
